The Ohio Department of Transportation has announced ANOTHER bridge project that will occur over the Little Miami Scenic Trail - this time just west of Corwin. Ohio State Route 73 proceeds over the Little Miami River, Corwin Road, and the Little Miami Scenic Trail. This project calls for replacing the bridge over Corwin Road and the Little Miami Scenic Trail, near the junction with Smith Road, as well as rehabilitating the bridge over the Little Miami River, located just east of the intersection with U.S. 42.
Here are some more details about the project from the ODOT press release:
Construction will begin at the bridge over Corwin Road on Monday, February 26, and S.R. 73 will be reduced to one lane, with traffic maintained by temporary signals. Smith Road will be closed at its junction with S.R. 73, and traffic will be detoured by way of Clarksville and Corwin roads. The Little Miami Scenic Trail, however, will remain open to bicyclists and pedestrians.
UPDATE (MARCH 5, 2024): Despite the assurances in the ODOT press release, it turns out the LMST will be closed weekdays between March 4 and March 14. See this alert for more details.
With Smith Road closed, access from the trail to the Village of Waynesville (which is on the other side of the river) will be available only via Corwin Avenue (not to be confused with Corwin Road). The release states the project is slated to be completed in the fall of 2024.
