I-675 Crossing (Bridge in Beavercreek)

Route: The planned pedestrian and bicycle bridge is to cross I-675 just North of Fairfield Commons Mall just next to Sam's Club. It will land on the North side of I-675 at Center Park Blvd. It will follow Center Park Blvd. next to the Fairborn Holiday Inn and cross Colonel Glenn Hwy into Wright State University

Artist Conception of Bridge - I received a new brochure from the Bicycle Committee recently and here is an artist's conception of what the bridge might look like.

Click on photo for larger image	I recently (July 2007) took photos of the proposed bridge location for your viewing pleasure. We start at the South end of where the bridge will land in Beavercreek just North of the Fairfield Commons Mall. Here we see the grassy area where the trail will run South to the corner of Commons Blvd. crossing New Germany-Trebein Road. The hotel at left in the photo is the Residence Inn By Marriott. The photo (looking South) was taken at the Northern end of the Fairfield Crossing area next to Sam's Club. Please see a Yahoo Maps overhead of the area that you can manipulate.

We have turned around in this photo and are now looking North from the same location. Sam's Club is to the right of the photo. The parking lot at the left serves The Wharf. The tree line in the background is just South of I-675 and the bridge will start there.	Click on photo for larger image

Click on photo for larger image	In this photo, we have gone to the tree line to take a picture of the Wright Executive Center Pylon on Center Park Drive. The bridge will land at about the Pylon and follow Center Park Drive North.

Click on photo for larger image	We are still at the location of the Pylon shown above. In this photo we are looking South across I-675 to where the South landing of the bridge will start. Over the tree line mentioned above you can see the roof of Sam's Club. The bridge will run about where the car at the right is located.

Click on photo for larger image	Here we are standing at the corner of Center Park Drive and Presidential Drive in the Wright Executive Center looking back (South) at the Pylon. The trail to Wright State University (WSU) from the bridge will presumably run on or near Center Park Drive.

Click on photo for larger image	We have walked across the crosswalk in this photo from the Wright Executive Center and are looking back (South) at it from across Col Glenn Hwy. At the right of the photo is one of the six office buildings in the complex.

This photo was taken in the same location as the one above. We are still on Center Park Drive but we are on Wright State University property. WSU has agreed to support the I-675 Pedestrian/Cyclist Bridge as a convenience to their faculty, staff and students.	Click on photo for larger image

Click on photo for larger image	We have turned around to the North and this photo is on Center Park Drive going on to the campus of WSU. To your right is a wide sidewalk that may make up a part of the trail connecting the I-675 Pedestrian/Cyclist Bridge to the Wright Brothers Bikeway on the East side of the WSU campus.

The final photo in this series shows the wide sidewalk mentioned above. This sidewalk connects to the Nutter Center on the campus. There is a sidewalk behind the Nutter Center and around the small lake to the large parking lot. It would seem an easy task to continue a trail past the two baseball diamonds to Raider Road to University Blvd. to Wright State Road to connect to the Wright Brothers Bikeway that runs along Kauffman Ave. Please see Yahoo Maps for an overhead of the area that you can manipulate. Construction Plans The City of Beavercreek Bikeway Advisory Committee is planning a bicycle bridge from just South of I-675 (see Yahoo Maps to see the vicinity) at the Mall at Fairfield Commons across the Interstate to land at Center Park Blvd (just South of the Holiday Inn). The new trail will cross Col Glenn Hwy and enter Wright State University at Loop Road on the campus. Plans include connecting from Wright State University to the Wright Brothers Bikeway on the campus's Eastern border.

Funding Sources & Sharing - The proposed bridge over I-675 in Beavercreek that will connect the Fairfield Mall area across I-675 to Wright State University and the Wright Brothers Bikeway got a little closer to being built Funds for engineering have been released and a Request For Proposal (RFP) is out. Click Here to see it (Search for GRE-675). The funding CMAQ requested will cover 80% ($2,408,000) of the total program cost ($3,010,000) the exact amount requested. The funding represents year 2014 dollars. The bridge is being proposed by the City of Beavercreek Bikeway Advisory Group.

Contributions To Build The Bridge - Contributions may be made to the Greene County Community Foundation. The organization is 501(c)3 complaint according to IRS so you may deduct your contribution. You may call 937-562-5550 to make a contribution.
